NileGuide (http://www.nileguide.com/), the well-known travel planning site has launched a new iPhone app for its portal. This new application helps the users to create a customized trip itinerary through their iPhones. It also helps them to view the customized guides that they create on the website of NileGuide.

Users are given the facility to browse the descriptions and map locations of events, restaurants, hotels, bars and major landmarks which are listed in their trips, as well as see the day-by-day details of their itinerary. The app also lets user, despite of whether they have created a NileGuide itinerary, view the suggested itineraries near their current location, for every Nile’s destination around the world. The travel guides are set according to the user rating and categorized by the type of trips, like ‘first-time, kid-friendly, off the beaten path, etc’.

The special functionalities of NileGuide’s website, like the CitySearch reviews of restaurants in Nile’s destinations, booking of flights and car rentals from Expedia, Priceline and other popular sites, has not been added to this application. It may be because of their incapability to compete with the application of Yelp another lead player in the industry.

Even though Expedia too has a similar iPhone application, it doesn’t allow the users to access events or restaurant listing. Travel Tracer is another well-known iPhone application.
